ON APRIL 7, 2009 PMUA ADOPTED RESOLUTION #41-2009 WHICH ALLOWS RESIDENTS TO GET THE OPT-OUT (Alternate Service Form) APPLICATION VIA MAIL, FAX, WEBSITE, OR IN-PERSON. PMUA has not provided any information about what you do with the completed application. We hope to see this information, at a minimum, available by the PMUA.
Specifically it should address the following:
* When can property owner have service started by new provider
* How will quarterly bill be prorated for unused services
* How will property owner be notified of acceptance
* What is the timeframe for said acceptance
* When will PMUA remove carts from premises of property owner

Some options for alternative solid waste service
Currently several solid waste providers service Plainfield. Because PMUA has monopolized Plainfield for over 10 years, many Union County providers didn't even know they could operate in Plainfield. Some providers didn't realize they could service Plainfield until the March 1, 2009 Courier article. As residents court alternative providers, more will be eager to service Plainfield. Your best bet is to discuss possible alternatives at your block association meetings. A provider will be more flexible and can offer more aggressive pricing if they are doing several homes on one block or in an area.
