DumpPMUA.com: Ticket Blitz?

DumpPMUA.com has learned that over 2050 "service fee" forms were sent to Plainfield property owners between January 5, 2009 and April 7, 2009. These have been for lids not completely closed, "extra bag" of garbage, or roll back fees (not the kind you get at Walmart!). Here is a sampling of some of the "additional services" assessed to property owners:

Maybe the blitz is associated with the loss of revenue from the opt-outers? Maybe it's to pay for the newsletters. Maybe it's for the "workshops", or maybe it's for the brand new trucks.

Whatever the case may be, we are disappointed that the PMUA believes they can assess such charges to their customers. Many of the people being charged these fees don't even put out garbage every week. Some people have received these fees after PMUA didn't collect after a holiday. And yet others work from 2pm-10pm to support their families. Does a cart at the curb affect PMUA's ability to collect garbage? We have verified that there is no city ordinance about carts being out past 8pm. Does PMUA need to pay salaries for staff to drive around and place carts back? Does PMUA need to pay salaries to take pictures for a lid not completely closed? If you have received such a charge, we would love to get a copy. Our fax number is 317-663-2256 and be sure to tell PMUA you did not authorize the "service"!!!
